The Amazon Animal Orphanage was designated by the Peruvian Government as a "Centre of Custody" for rescued wild animals in 2004.
It is home to many magnificent species under the protection of the Orphanage.
Please take time to visit and be enchanted by these splendid and sometimes endangered animals. Meet Pedro, Luigi (the Squirrel Monkey above), Angie, Rosa the anteater. . .
This small non-profit is in ongoing need of financial support to feed abandoned and orphaned wild animals.
They
are concerned about Flora and Fauna in general and, as a result, have
been caring for animals rescued by them, or by others who mean well and try rescuing exotic animals by purchasing them them from illegal street vendors. The animals' rescuers do not know what to do with them so they make their way to the Animal Orphanage.
We
are concerned about Flora and Fauna in general and, as a result, have
been caring for animals rescued by us, or by others and given to us
in the Amazonian jungles of Peru.
One of our goals had been to become an Official Center of Rescue for
endangered animals; we received official sanction in summer of 2004,
but the official recognition does not include funding.
We are in serious need of your donations to help support the animals, particularly
Pedro Bello, the exquisite Jaguar you see above. Pedro was our first "charge." Pedro Bellos' Story.
And, please, do not take wild animals into your home with the expectation
of turning them into pets. It often turns into a heart-breaking situation
for all concerned.
