As you can see,the manatee is finally round . . . well, it eats 10-12
kgs of lettuce a day!
Rosita has grown a lot too —she arrived at less than 5 kgs and
now the anteater weighs 13 kgs!
The third picture (which we have included on the Donor
page), shows Alan and Janine, two English volunteers who stayed with
us for two weeks and did a really good job planting lots of trees,
painting and decorating the volunteers' shower and making their house
"kinkajou safe." Besides they helped us taking care and
feeding the animals. We miss them already!
Now about your question on donations: Unfortunately Paypal doesn't
work in Peru, so the only way to get donations is through the bioarcheological
Institute or directly to my bank account (or Western Union, but that's
very expensive). The Institute has the big advantage that it doesn't
charge us, and that people from the States can get a tax reduction,
the disadvantage is that they send money only 3-4 times each year
to Peru.
Last week we were lucky because the director of the Institute, Ms
Roxie Walker, came to visit us and she brought a $500 donation from
Ms Susan Gardner
Besides Ms Roxie gave us money so we could make a slope into Pedro's
pool, so it's easier for him to get in—and more natural.
Thanks a lot to everyone for the wonderful work being done for us!
Love,
Gudrun
